The war on reality
Made the mistake of starting today watching “Fox New Sunday with Chris Wallace.” When Arlen Specter was on, I realised I can hardly hear what he says. My mind drowns out his words questioning if they have a recall process in Pennsylvania. This dickwad had the nerve to say that he is concerned about his constituents. Perhaps they are on his list of concerns near the bottom. As in my previous post, politicians remain imbeciles.
Further to my Iranian embargo comments, China’s Premier Wen Jiabao declared that they love trading with Iran, while Putin issued an equally ridiculous statement, something like it was “too early” for strict sanctions. Maybe they should catch the Russian later in the day, after he’s had dinner. Although they have much in common, it is odd that two anti-religion nations can be so chummy with a theocracy. That’s the great thing about politics — it brings people together.
Moving on, let’s metaphorically journey to Afghanistan. A spokeswoman for anti-war Code Pink, just returned from the land of rocks and stoning, acknowledged that women feel they would be in danger if the US troops leave them to the Taliban. No shit! Problem is at least 28 African countries permit female genital mutilation, either clitoridectomy (removing the clitoris), excision (removing the labia minora), or infibulation (removal of the clitoris, abia minora and majora, then stitching it shut). Eeeew! As a bonus, these procedures are performed under unsafe conditions, so many of the victims die.
See: Women’s Wrongs. These are merely the tip of their human rights abuses.
Should all these countries be invaded? The UN ignores such barbarism and slavery to avoid offending Muslim diplomats and other self-righteous abusers.

The US is in Afghanistan supposedly to stop Al Queda and get Osama Bin Laden. After eight years of failure, it is time to quit. Great American fascist Dianne Feinstein has urged Obama to dispatch 40,000 more troops. That alone justifies immediate withdrawal. In fairness, her economic interests in the region may cloud her judgment.
War supporters like to say that pulling out would constitute a “defeat,” even though we can win as we did in Iraq. What we won is nebulous. Foreign policy should not be about winning and losing, anyway. War is not a sport.
This week’s The Economist (“Obama’s War”) endorses sending 40,000 more US troops. Their arguments are unconvincing. One is that withdrawal “would amount to a terrible betrayal of the Afghan people, some of whose troubles are the result of Western intervention.” While the paper held out little possibility of any scenario that could be regarded as a success, their coverage reminded me that not only Pakistan, but equally nuclear India, is affected. The US can help when these countries decide to enter the twenty-first century.
Troops invaded Iraq to remove Saddam Hussein and recover the oft-touted weapons of mass destruction. Sending an army to get Hussein was like dispatching the entire Pacific fleet to capture one tasty sea bass, even if it’s really tasty. Despite the so-called victory, Iraq remains near the bottom of most vacation-destination lists, mainly because odds are your first visit there would be your last. It is still far from peaceful, people.
Remember, Afghanistan is one of the main causes of the Soviet Union’s collapse. It drained their resources, as war is sport to Afghans. If the US and other Europeans, maybe even Australians, leave, the Arabs can resume fighting each other. With any luck, they will self-destruct, which is not the West’s problem. We have our own.
When the US Ruling Party’s Republican wing were in control, Democrats whined about the lives and money wasted on these absurd, indefencible wars. Now that the Democrats are driving, they envision new evils, like Fox News. This blog’s readers know why the Democrats switched position on the wars: They’re the same damned party. Their opposition was for style.
MORON FOX NEWS
On the subject of Fox, administration flacks say Fox News are being punished because they didn’t run the president’s recent one-hour health-care infomercial. Fox advocates point out that Fox News and Fox Business ran it, only Fox Entertainment declined.
Point missed! If every major network and cable news outlet ran the show live, except for Fox, what is the problem? Blanket coverage does not force viewers to watch because there are other networks and alternatives, like popping in a DVD or reading a book. No one was prevented from watching the live feed or subsequent airings, again including those on Fox News, one of which tragically preempted “Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld,” which viewers were prevented from seeing.
Every news outlet, including Fox News, call Obamacare “health care reform.” If that’s not kowtowing to the administration, nothing is. Glenn Beck has given the White House a special number to call if he makes an error. No calls yet, although their problem with Beck may be that he is too accurate.
The administration want to coerce Congress into passing their bogus health care reform, one way or another. Their bill will not solve anything, probably create many new problems, resulting in millions of outraged Americans.
